We are looking for your ideas for a sustainable University of Kassel

Sustainability projects at the University of Kassel are initiated and made visible via the Project Factory. Discover a wide range of sustainability projects from the Green Office, students and employees. Share your own idea for a more sustainable university on the project marketplace. Refine your idea and bring your project to fruition together with other students and employees. The Green Office supports you with the Sustain Group "Project Factory" in the implementation process of your project and is there to help and advise you. Come to our meeting and tell us about your ideas! We meet ONLINE on Zoom. Please send us a short email if you would like to attend.

Whether sustainable laboratory work & field trials, mobility, nutrition, procurement & sustainable events or open spaces - your ideas are needed. Following on from the 1st Green Office Workshop in Witzenhausen in February, we would like to continue working with you on your ideas for a more sustainable agricultural campus.

We will meet ONLINE on Zoom. Please send us a short email (greenoffice@uni-kassel.de) if you would like to participate. Newcomers are very welcome!

Take part in our new "Green Nudging" challenge! A nudge is like a "nudge", a suggestion to change your behavior. Together with the company and student health management, we want to develop playful incentives for more sustainability and health on campus, e.g. a course with small movement and thinking tasks.

Do you have an idea or wish? Then get in touch with us, write to us or simply drop by!

We want to make the sustainability community in Kassel and the surrounding area more visible!

There are numerous great associations and initiatives in Kassel that deal with the topic of sustainability. Many stores and restaurateurs also offer sustainable and fair products. We want to make this diversity visible both digitally, on the map of tomorrow's Kassel, and in analog form on the sustainability city map for Kassel. The first edition has been printed and distributed in the places of tomorrow and in the community since October. It can be obtained free of charge from us at the Green Office, among other places. We are now working on a second edition and also want to show the sustainability community in other parts of the city.

Join us and support us in networking and increasing the visibility of sustainability initiatives! Our goal is to become strong together, promote diversity and enrich each other.

How can we make sustainable forms of mobility on and around campus more attractive?

What can we do to get even more staff and students to the university by public transport, on foot or by bike? We are committed to more sustainable mobility on campus. Show us your ideas and join our team!

Welcome to our dynamic sustainability communication working group! Together we develop creative strategies and ideas to raise awareness of sustainable practices and further stimulate a dialog on sustainability at the university. Be part of a group that not only informs, but inspires!

Our group has developed a Sustain Tour to make the topic of sustainability on campus visible and tangible for everyone. The project is taking shape thanks to our cooperation partners Kinferno, the Department of Construction Materials and Construction Chemistry and the Official Materials Testing Institute (AMPA) of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The photo above shows the first prototype of a concrete seating cube, which will be integrated into our sustainable campus tour. The seat cube was made in the concrete laboratory with a more environmentally friendly concrete that contains a cement-reduced composition.

We would also like to create a Sustain Board in the form of a virtual pinboard to create a place where sustainable events, projects and information can be bundled and made visible.

Do you organize workshops, conferences and other events at the university? Join our "Sustainable event organization" network!

The Sustain Group is all about sustainable event management. Our diverse network looks at the topic from different angles. For example, we have already developed a checklist for sustainable catering. We are currently preparing a framework agreement for sustainable catering with the central materials management department, which is due to be launched at the start of 2025. Another project is the creation of guidelines for sustainable event organization at the University of Kassel. In preparation for this, a training course on sustainable event management was organized for secretariats. Another idea we are currently working on is the establishment of a university-wide lending service for event equipment. To this end, we are cooperating with Allerleih e.V. We cordially invite you to develop these ideas further, but you are also welcome to bring new ideas! The meetings take place in the Green Office.

For more sustainability at the University of Kassel

Join our Sustain Groups! We meet about once a month in the Green Office to discuss specific topics and advance our sustainability ideas together! Staff and students from all areas of the university are involved in our Sustain Groups. Every meeting is different. Sometimes we plan and discuss, sometimes there is a lecture or we organize a guided tour of the campus. Curious? Get in touch!
