City of Hofgeismar and university cooperate with "Innenstadtladen"

Together with interested citizens of Hofgeismar, the store can be used in a variety of ways in the future, for example as an event venue, as a place with an information and exchange shelf, as a place to present regional products or as a co-working space.
The opening of the city center store is planned for May 2025. During the summer, the store will provide a setting for a varied program of events - including guided tours, readings, exhibitions, regional markets, children's programs, concerts and discussion panels.
The "Shaping the region together" project is being implemented as part of UniKasselTransfer's SDG+ Lab. It aims to strengthen cultural and social networks in the north of the district and promote cooperation between urban and rural areas. The focus is on sustainable topics such as services of general interest, biodiversity, housing and settlement development. Through concrete offers and new spaces such as the inner city store, local potential is to be made visible and voluntary work is to be supported.
Background:
With the SDG+ Lab, UniKasselTransfer is developing a laboratory for sustainability issues as a platform for exchange between science, politics, business and civil society. Along the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nations, practical solutions and innovations for the North Hesse region will be jointly developed. The 2024/25 theme year "Transformations in urban and rural areas" deals with the questions of how areas, spaces and uses in the urban region can be made more sustainable. The SDG+ Lab project is funded by the federal-state initiative "Innovative University" from 2023-2027.
