Psychology (Bachelor)

Psychology is the science of human behavior and experience. The goal here is an adequate description and an appropriate theoretical conceptualization of the subject matter. With regard to its research methods, scientific psychology is based on elements of the humanities, social sciences and especially the natural sciences.

By means of empirical (often experimental) investigations, psychologists test (usually theoretically derived) hypotheses. Empirical methods (e.g. statistics, data collection procedures, experimental design, diagnostics) accordingly form an essential part of the six-semester Bachelor's program. Prospective students should therefore have a solid basic knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences as well as good PC skills.

The methodological training goes hand in hand with the study of psychological basics (general psychology, differential psychology, developmental psychology, social psychology) as well as the study of applied subjects (clinical psychology, educational psychology as well as industrial, organizational and business psychology). The University of Kassel is one of the few German universities that also offer environmental psychology as an applied subject.
