Presentation and exhibition "Pflanzenlokal - Textile dyeing with plants"
We know the power of plants from naturopathy - we may have heard that they can also be used to dye textiles. As part of a course in the textile laboratory at the School of Art and Design in Kassel, in collaboration with UNI:Lokal, students at the School of Art and Design have been experimenting in search of the potential of plants as dyes for fabric.
The results are shown in over 50 fabric samples in an exhibition at UNI:Lokal (Wilhelmsstraße 21). The small presentation of the results is aimed in particular at pupils, to whom the students would like to introduce the work and studies at the School of Art and Design Kassel using the example of this plant dyeing seminar, as well as teachers and anyone interested in textile dyeing methods.
In short 5-minute presentations, the student group of the seminar will show their results, recipes and most exciting findings on woad & indigo, madder, beetroot, tea plant, safflower thistle and turmeric.
Afterwards there will be room for discussion.
