Maximum numbers at the taster course at the University of Kassel

380 schoolchildren will take part in a "taster course" at the University of Kassel from January 18 to 22. That is more than ever before.

The record number of participants is due in part to the fact that this year students from two other schools are taking part: the Max Eyth School in Kassel and the Albert Schweitzer School in Hofgeismar. In addition, for the first time, around a dozen interested students who do not come from one of the partner schools have registered individually. Together with the senior students from the Kassel schools Friedrichsgymnasium, Herderschule, Friedrich-List-Schule and Paul-Julius-von-Reuter, the Wilhelm-Filchner-Schule in Wolfhagen and the Theodor-Heuss-Schule in Homberg/Efze, they will "run along" for a week in the regular course of study in a subject of their own choice. They will take part in lectures, seminars and exercises in their chosen subject in order to gain an impression of the content and requirements of a course of study that they may wish to study after graduation.

In additional meetings with lecturers and students, the students will be able to clarify whether their expectations of the course of study are realistic, what skills they should bring with them for a course of study, or in which fields of work they can later work.

The trial study program was first organized in 2006 by the General Student Advisory Service of the University of Kassel and the participating schools. This annual offer is intended to improve the transition from school to university and to provide qualified support for students in their decision-making process.
