March for Science 2018 on April 14

This year, Kassel will again participate in the international "March for Science". The participants of the "March for Science" promote trust in science, openness of science and education that makes it easier for the population to understand science, says the initiator Mario Dirks. The organizers from the natural sciences and humanities invite all citizens to demonstrate for science on Bebelplatz.

"Kassel does not have the age-old tradition of a great science city, but last year's success showed that there is a broad interest among the population," said Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Nellen (March for Science Kassel organizing team).

"Science must be transparent and ready for discussion. Above all, there must be a stronger, mutual trust between science experts and the population. The March for Science advocates freedom of science and fact-based policies," explains Prof. Dr. Reiner Finkeldey, President of the University of Kassel.

In addition to speeches by the President of the University of Kassel and the organizers, participants will once again have the opportunity to speak out, make demands on science or make pleas for a knowledge-based society. At the booth of Science Bridge e.V. there will be small insights into scientific practice and opportunities for discussion.
