Thinking, perceiving and designing landscape are closely interrelated. Spatial, social and technical transformations constantly challenge us to reflect on conventional ways of thinking. The Department of Landscape Aesthetics in Design practices this design-based research with changing guest professors.

#überOrte combines teaching formats from the last four semesters by guest professor Florian Otto. The symposium takes a look back and forward at the genesis of places that are shaped by socio-cultural practices, technical progress or industrial processes. How can we as designers deal, for example, with nuclear repositories, raw material dumps or aircraft graveyards?

Positions from former visiting professors at the department enrich the discourse with places that point beyond themselves and narratively accompany society. Participation in the symposium is free of charge. Please register at c.baumgartner[at]asl.uni-kassel[dot]de.
