Your tasks:

  • Collaboration in the research project "Extreme light for the analysis and control of molecular chirality".
  • Set-up of an apparatus for angular and energy resolved electron spectroscopy according to the principle of velocity map imaging (VMI)
  • Conception, preparation and implementation of synchrotron radiation based experiments
  • Design and implementation of a heated sample chamber for in-vacuum investigation of samples with low vapor pressure
  • Setup of a UV-Vis absorption and emission spectrometer
  • Assistance in experiments with free electron lasers
  • Evaluation of scientific results using state-of-the-art data analysis techniques
  • Evaluation of measurement data and their theoretical modeling
  • Preparation of scientific publications

 

Your requirements:

  • Completed scientific university studies in the field of physics or comparable qualification
  • Measurement time experience at synchrotron radiation sources, especially BESSY II and PETRA III
  • Knowledge in molecular chirality and spectroscopy (electrons, ions and photons)
  • Experience in (ultra-)high vacuum technology and sample preparation in supersonic expansion beams
  • experience in the Python programming language
  • extensive experience in absorption and emission spectroscopy
  • Negotiation skills in the English language, knowledge of the relevant technical literature

 

Advantageous are:

  • Knowledge in (angular and position resolved) electron and ion time-of-flight spectroscopy in coincidence.
