Postdoc UNIKAT Fellowship (EG 13 TV-H) - as part of the Otto Braun Fund

full-time, from 01.04.2019 limited until 31.03.2020 according to § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG,

funded by B. Braun Melsungen AG for outstanding application-oriented research at the University of Kassel for the further development of research results. The Postdoc UNIKAT Fellowship provides the opportunity to develop novel social applications on the basis of one's own research results. These can be technical, social, ecological or cultural innovations, which can, for example, be transferred into innovative product, service, organizational or business concepts. The results should form the basis for cooperation with companies or organizations, for business start-ups or marketing activities.

Target group

Postdoctoral researchers at the University of Kassel who completed their doctorate no more than twelve months ago are eligible to apply, as are doctoral candidates up to six months before the completion of their doctorate. The dissertation must have already been defended and the oral examination passed by the time the position starts.

Application documents

Applications must be submitted in electronic form. The electronic documents must be sent as a PDF file (1 file!) by e-mail to: bewerbungen@uni-kassel.de. The nomination in German or English includes the following documents:

• the online application form at www.uni-kassel.de/go/obf-formular-fellowship,
• a short letter of motivation with career plans and prospects (max. one page),
• a generally understandable summary of the project (max. one page),
• a project outline including a work plan and timetable (max. eight pages in total), which, in addition to the necessary information on the further development of your own research results, also includes the application and social relevance (e.g. economic, social or cultural) as well as prospects for sustainable application,
• Letter of recommendation from a professor at the University of Kassel (mentor) with a promise of supervision and support, including a promise to use the department's infrastructure required to carry out the project. (The letter explains the research context in which the respective project is to be placed and comments on the person to be funded and, if applicable, the timetable for completing the dissertation in a maximum of six months. It is expected that the statement will emphasize the candidate's particular aptitude for academic work. Intensive supervision of the thesis upon approval of the UNIKAT Fellowship is assumed and confirmed by the mentor's letter of support),
• Curriculum vitae in tabular form,
• the university transcripts and, if applicable, a single copy of the doctoral certificate,
• for persons who have not yet received their doctorate,
  • the certificate of acceptance as a doctoral candidate from the University of Kassel,
  • a copy of the completed supervision agenda.

Selection procedure

A board of trustees consisting of representatives of the professors, the Universitätsgesellschaft e.V. and B. Braun Melsungen AG decides on the awarding of the fellowships according to quality and prospects of success. The Board of Trustees obtains external expert opinions from the field to support its decision.
