Research Assistant (EG 13 TV-H) - in the Department of Theory of Electrical Engineering and Photonics

Part-time with 75.00 percent of the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of extension (§ 2 para. 1 WissZeitVG). The possibility of a doctorate is given.

Tasks:

• We are looking for enthusiastic employees in the field of quantum information processing, with the possibility of completing a doctorate. As part of the SMoLBiTs (scalable molecular quantum bits) project, we are researching integrated quantum information processing platforms within an interdisciplinary team of physicists, chemists and electrical engineers
• the scope of the advertised position includes the development of a simulation model that can calculate the electromagnetic properties of cavities, waveguides and couplers in a photonic crystal architecture. The model consists of a finite element formulation that is to be adapted to the specific application. The focus is on the calculation of semiconductor-based chips, which are realized and characterized in collaboration with partners. The aim is to create a new type of single-photon platform
• The opportunity to work independently, manage a research project, publish scientific papers and attend international conferences is given. Our project partners from industry and academia enable research on state-of-the-art technologies and components as well as the formation of diverse contacts

Requirements

• Completed scientific university degree (Master in Phys., ET, or Mathematics), knowledge in electromangetic theory, quantum physics, numerical methods and programming. The position is suitable for a doctorate

Advantageous are:

• Prior knowledge in electromagnetic theory, semiconductor physics, numerical methods and programming
• Thorough and independent working methods
• a high degree of organizational skills
