Research assistant (m/f/d, EG 13 TV-H) - in the field of hydrology and material balance

Part-time with half the regular working hours of a full-time employee. The position is initially limited until 15.08.2020 (qualification position according to § 65 HHG in conjunction with § 2 para. 1 sentence 1 WissZeitVG). An extension for a further 1.5 years is sought. The possibility of a doctorate is given.

The position is embedded in the graduate program BangaDyn in close cooperation with the DFG research group FOR2432(http://www.uni-kassel.de/go/for-2432).

Tasks:

• Investigation of anthropogenic influences on the water balance in the urban-rural gradient of Bangalore with the help of hydrological modeling
• Publication of the results

Prerequisites:

• a university degree in environmental engineering, hydrology or similar with very good to good results
• initial experience in working with hydrological models
• experience in working with geographic information systems (QGis,  ArcGIS) and statistical software
• Excellent written and spoken English skills
• Intention to do a doctorate

Advantageous are:

• Prior knowledge of local hydrological conditions around Bangalore, India.
• language skills in Kannada
• Thorough and independent working methods
• a high degree of organizational skills
