Library trainee (m/f/d) for the preparatory service at academic libraries of the state of Hesse

We are looking for applicants who have completed an academic university degree (master's degree, diploma, master's degree, or equivalent) with above-average success in STEM or humanities with a proven focus on digital humanities.

Familiarity with the job description and duties of an academic librarian is expected.

Successful applicants will also demonstrate a particular interest in administrative, organizational, and leadership tasks, as well as in current IT-related developments in the information sector. IT skills, media competence and service orientation are indispensable in modern libraries and are therefore expected.

In addition to practical training at the training library, the two-year library traineeship includes theoretical training modules, which are completed as distance learning modules at the Humboldt University in Berlin and as practical training in Hessian training libraries. As part of the distance learning program, a Master of Arts degree (Library and Information Science) can also be earned.

Applicants must also meet the requirements for appointment as a civil servant in accordance with the Hessian Civil Service Act and the Hessian Career Ordinance.
