The position is initially limited for 3 years with the possibility of extension for another 3 years (qualification position according to § 65 HHG in conjunction with § 2 para. 1 sentence 2 WissZeitVG). The possibility for habilitation is given.

 

Tasks:

  • Scientific collaboration in research and teaching in the field of modern and contemporary history (from 1789 to the present).
  • Independent work on a research area in the field of modern and contemporary history from a global and interconnected history perspective.
  • Implementation of the habilitation project
  • Support in the preparation of applications for external funding
  • Independent planning, implementation and follow-up of teaching in the scope of 4 SWS in the bachelor, master and teacher training programs in history

 

Requirements:

  • Academic university studies in Modern and Contemporary History completed with good to very good results.
  • Completed doctoral studies in the field of Modern and Contemporary History
  • In addition to German, very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of another modern foreign language
  • Very good knowledge in approaches of global and interconnected history and/or concepts of modern cultural history

 

Advantageous are:

  • Experience with archival research
  • Experience with study and/or research in European and/or non-European countries
  • Success in independently obtaining external funding
