The professorship is supposed to deal with engineering science aspects of Computing in Civil Engineering in research and teaching with a focus on the "digitization of construction and design processes". It is expected that the applicant will be scientifically proven in one or more of the following research areas:

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
  • Digital modeling, analysis and networking of business processes
  • Computer-aided simulation of construction processes
  • RFID in construction
  • Computer Aided Facility Management (CAFM)

In the teaching of Civil and Environmental Engineering the professorship is supposed to cover the full field of Computing in Civil Engineering. Besides existing lectures, exercises and practical training this also includes the initiation of fresh impetus in terms of IT-supported teaching formats. A special focus in teaching lies on the IT applications in construction management.

In addition to proven outstanding scientific work in relevant research areas as shown by the publication record, several years of professional experience with close practical relevance, very good didactic skills, the ability and willingness to acquire and manage third-party funded research projects and the readiness for interdisciplinary professional cooperation are expected.

Active participation in the further curriculum development of civil engineering and environmental engineering courses and programs as well as participation in the academic administrative autonomy are job-related tasks.
