Theater of the Red Brick Company: "Comic Potential" - PREMIERE

The student theater "Red Brick Company" presents Alan Ayckbourn's comedy "Comic Potential". The premiere is on June 25 at 8 p.m. at the Kulturzentrum K19. The performance is in English.

We are in the near future. Artificial intelligence has permeated all areas of human life. Even the actors in television productions have been replaced by humanoid robots. In a London television studio, one such robot suddenly displays human characteristics and begins to laugh uncontrollably during a rehearsal. The television producers classify the female robot as faulty and in need of repair, but the young author Adam recognizes the potential of the robot, whom he names Jacie. Adam is determined to write a TV series for Jacie, but when he encounters resistance from the studio bosses, he sets off with Jacie on an odyssey through London that shows her the limits of her humanity.

Alan Ayckbourn's 1999 comedy prophetically anticipates the current discussions about artificial intelligence and man-machines with plenty of wordplay and situation comedy.
