Training content

• Procurement and provision of media, information and data with the aid of modern information and communication technologies
• Acquisition and indexing of media, information, data
• Research in catalogs, bibliographies and databases
• Informing and advising users (customers) in the procurement of information
• Public relations and marketing
• Application of information and communication systems
• Digitization

Requirements

• At the time of the start of the training, the intermediate school leaving certificate (Realschulabschluss) should be available.
• good (at least satisfactory) grades in German, English and mathematics
• good performance in general education subjects
• Good computer skills and interest in information technology

Advantageous are:

• Ability to work in a team
• Ability to work precisely and conscientiously
• pleasant appearance and pleasure in dealing with people
• Interest in working with books and new media
• Interest in Internet research, electronic communication and information technology

Training duration and structure

The training lasts 3 years.

An intermediate examination takes place in the middle of the 2nd year of training.

Training pay

A monthly training allowance is paid in accordance with § 8 Para. 1 of the collective agreement for trainees in the state of Hesse (TVA-H BBiG).

Training location

Training as a media and information services specialist takes place in the University Library at Holländischer Platz (Diagonale 10) of the University of Kassel.

The vocational school is the Stauffenbergschule in Frankfurt/Main.
