Bauhaus and Photography - On the New Vision in Contemporary Art

The historical reference point of the exhibition developed by Kai-Uwe Hemken (Kunsthochschule Kassel), Christoph Schaden (Technische Hochschule Nürnberg GSO) and Kris Scholz (Hochschule Darmstadt) is the legendary Werkbundschau "Film und Foto" (FiFo), which caused a sensation in 1929. At the time, Bauhaus master László Moholy-Nagy curated one room each on the history and future of photography, whose concept and appearance, however, have only been documented in fragments. At Kunsthalle Darmstadt, parts of Moholy-Nagy's exhibition can be experienced as a material and virtual reconstruction. The exhibition project is supported by the "Fonds Bauhaus heute" of the German Federal Cultural Foundation as well as by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Art and the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
