Postdoctoral researcher (f/m/d) for the establishment of a junior research group in the field of river-groundwater interaction, (EG 14 TV-H) - Department of Hydrology and Mass Balance

Job Profile:

In coordination with the departments of Hydrology and Material Balance and Hydraulic Engineering and Water Resources Management at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Kassel, you will design and apply for external funding within the funding period for your own research project to establish a junior research group in the field of river-groundwater interaction and carry out the preliminary work for this. The existing laboratory equipment (e.g. water quality, stable water isotopes) and the hydraulic engineering hall for experimental work can be used. In accordance with your topic, you will offer courses in the scope of four semester hours per week in the Environmental Engineering program.

Requirement profile:

You

• have a university degree and a doctorate in a relevant subject, which was successfully completed no longer than three years ago
• have relevant and international research and publication experience
• are planning an experimental or model-based future-oriented research project in the field of river-groundwater interaction.

Applicants are expected to submit a short presentation (half page) of their research concept, which is intended to attract a junior research group. The following topics represent examples of a thematic focus, but your own ideas are welcome:

• Mass transport and behavior in the hyporheic interstitial.
• Dynamics of scouring in the riverbed due to different hydraulic loads
• Temporal and spatial variability of groundwater inflows and outflows into and from the channel.
