University of Kassel saddles up for climate and collects bicycle kilometers

The primary aim is to motivate students to leave their cars at home and get on their bikes instead. In this way, participants can also make a contribution to climate protection during the pandemic and do something for their health at the same time. It is possible to organize in tandem or as a team.

Employees should also be encouraged to cycle more. It is important to note that employee-only teams must be identified as such. The best way to do this is to use a unique team name - e.g. by adding the abbreviation "MA" - so that it then reads: "Team name xy (MA)". If employees are part of a student team, explicit labeling is not necessary. Staff-only teams are also excluded from team prizes, but by participating they also earn mileage for the university and benefit from separate prize opportunities for the entire university.

Participation in the contest is via an app. After registration in the app and assignment to the University of Kassel, the distances covered by bicycle can be recorded. All further information about the organization and especially about downloading the app can be found at the following link:

The DIY project is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety. The aim is to sensitize young people at training centers to the topic of sustainable mobility.
