The open spaces of the University of Kassel have meanwhile turned out to be a hotspot of biodiversity in Kassel, especially on the parking lots behind the Science Park and on the fallow land adjacent to the Leo. In the context of the garden culture days a very beautiful video contribution was provided for this, which shows impressively, which developed by the sowings of the specialist area landscape construction, - management and vegetation development of Professor Dr. - engineer Stefan Körner in the last years.

In addition, the department also commissioned a conservation expertise to study the University of Kassel as an urban habitat for birds, wild bees and reptiles. Fortunately, the results show a high species diversity of birds and wild bees at the campus location Holländischer Platz.
