Veload - now available to borrow from the University of Kassel

At the University of Kassel, a Veload (from 05.08.24) can now be made available for business purposes.

This offer is intended to make it possible to travel in an environmentally friendly and flexible way. The cargo bike will be rented out as part of a cooperation with the Kassel startup Veload(https://website.veload.org/), initially for a test period of 6 months until 31.01.2025.

How do I make a reservation?
Use the Outlook calendar to select "Lastenrad Uni Kassel" and request the cargo bike. You can add the calendar in Outlook to your calendars by right-clicking on Shared calendars -> Add calendar -> From address book -> Search for and add "Lastenrad Uni Kassel".

To book, create a meeting for the time you want to use the cargo bike and invite the "Lastenrad Uni Kassel" to the meeting.
Just like borrowing company vehicles, Veload can also be borrowed. The request is confirmed manually from the Green Office and important documents are then sent in advance.

How does the rental/return process work?

To pick up your bike, come to the Green Office (Nora-Platiel-Straße 2) and bring the signed loan agreement, an ID with your status (until now, the loan only worked for employees) and your ID card. Student employees can also borrow the Veload, in which case the Green Office should be informed in advance. In principle, the bike can be borrowed and returned during the opening hours of the Green Office (Mon-Thu, 8:00-16:00). If the bike is collected or returned outside opening hours, the required documents will be collected/returned by the security service.

The cargo bike can also be rented overnight or for several days.

Use and care

An instruction manual for the Veload and a FAQ clarifying the most important questions are issued with the booking. In addition, the rental agreement contains all the important points to be observed before, during and after the rental.

The bike should be left in such a way that it can be used again immediately after the next rental, e.g. the batteries should be charged.

What happens in the event of damage?

In the event of an accident, the police must be informed and any damage, loss or accident must be reported immediately to the lessor (Veload) and the lessee (university).

The lessor has taken out insurance for damage and theft.
