Citizen Science-ORKA-Workshop: From the life of a doctor - The digital letter collection of the Kassel physician Johann Dolaeus (1651-1707)

Johann Dolaeus was a physician and personal physician to Landgrave Karl von Hessen-Cassel. His numerous correspondence with his son (also a doctor) and numerous scientists of his time is unique. Our historical digital portal ORKA has more than 260 letters from Dolaeus available for you. The handwritten texts are written in 17th/18th century Kurrent script and pose a bit of a challenge. Dolaeus lives up to his reputation as a doctor with this hard-to-decipher script. But don't let this put you off and take up the challenge of converting the German, Latin and French documents into readable full texts on your computer. Alternatively, ORKA also provides you with numerous simpler letters that can also be edited. We look forward to seeing you!
