Networking meeting of North Hessian Fairtrade Towns

On 20.09.22, the Green Office took part in the 1st networking meeting of the Hessian Fairtrade Towns, which was organized by Karibu Weltladen together with the city of Kassel. Together with representatives of Fairtrade initiatives from  Witzenhausen, Gudensberg, Hofgeismar and Bad Arolsen, there was an exciting panel discussion on the question of how we can work together to strengthen fair trade locally.

The city of Kassel is currently on its way to becoming a Fairtrade Town. Fairtrade Towns are committed to fair trade, e.g. by serving fair products such as coffee in the town hall and at events,  establishing fair procurement by the administration and also offering many practical publicity campaigns.

We would like to take the city of Kassel as a role model! Similar to the Fairtrade Towns, there are Fairtrade Universities throughout Germany. Fairtrade Universities promote the awareness and commitment of university stakeholders to fair trade - combined with the implementation of concrete projects and creative actions on campus.
