Since summer 2020, researchers led by the University of Kassel have been investigating in the AKHWA project whether regenerative arable farming is a suitable strategy for adapting agriculture to climate change. A key result from the first project phase is the increase in carbon content in the upper soil layers, which makes it more resistant to extreme weather conditions, among other things. The project is now being extended and will be funded for a further four years with 2.5 million euros.
