You do not pay tuition fees at UNAM.

Costs for arrival and departure, accommodation, meals, books, insurance, etc. are to be borne by the student.

In addition, you will re-register regularly at the University of Kassel, as you will remain a registered student at your home university during your semester abroad.

The semesters at UNAM are divided into Otoño (August to December) and Primavera (January to June).

The language of instruction is Spanish. Proof of B2 level knowledge is required. Level C1 is required for some courses.

A few courses are offered in English, for which the corresponding knowledge must be proven with TOEFL IBT 90 or IELTS 6.5.

Bachelor's and Master's students can apply for an exchange place. Please note that only courses at the respective study level may be taken; Bachelor students therefore take undergraduate courses, Master students only graduate courses.

Exchange students can take courses from the fields of Ciencias Biológicas, Químicas y de la Salud, Ciencias Físico - Matemáticas y de las Ingenierías, Humanidades y de las Artes and Ciencias Sociales.

UNAM does not offer accommodation in a student hall of residence. Exchange students must arrange their own accommodation before arrival.

You apply to the International Office of the University of Kassel for a tuition-free exchange study place at UNAM. Please submit the application documents (see below) in person, by post or by email (one PDF with all documents to auslandsstudium[at]uni-kassel[dot]de) in full and on time. Only these applications can be considered in the selection process.

An independent committee will decide on the allocation of the study place. You will be informed of the decision by e-mail.

In the event of a positive decision by the selection committee, the selected applicants must confirm acceptance of the study place within a set deadline. The selected students will then be nominated at the partner university. They will check your documents and decide on the nomination. You will be notified by the university regarding admission and other required documents.

For a stay in the coming Otoño or the following Primavera (see semester periods above), please apply by 15.11. with all the documents listed below by e-mail to auslandsstudium[at]uni-kassel[dot]de or hand in the documents in person at our information desk.

It is not sufficient to simply complete the online form; an application must be submitted by e-mail or in printed form.

The following documents are required for a complete application:

• Letter of motivation (in German, max. 2 pages, informal)
  Please address the following points in your letter of motivation:
  • Why do you want to study at UNAM for a semester?
  • Relevance of your stay in relation to your previous/further studies?
  • Brief description of your study plans: Which courses would you like to take?
  • Subject/language preparation for the stay
• Curriculum vitae (in German, informal)
• Copy of a valid passport (valid for at least 6 months after the end of the program)
• Proof of Spanish language skills (at least B2), as the courses are held in Spanish (see Language of instruction)
• Transcript of records with current grade point average (If you are accepted, you will need a transcript of records with the title of the course/event in English, signed and stamped by your examination office. You can use the "Transcript of Records" template, which you can find in our download area).
