Public series of events on sexualized violence in sport
Sport and behavior in sport is often associated with familiarity and physical proximity as well as touching, observing and commenting on physical behavior. The boundaries of what an athlete perceives as hurtful or even abusive are defined individually. This is why special attention and respectful interaction is required in this context.
Unequal power relations (between the genders) often play a role in sexualized violence. The term covers various forms of exercising power through sexuality. As it often seems to be particularly difficult for adults affected to address sexualized violence in sport, the topic has so far hardly been heard in sport. The series of events is therefore intended to raise awareness of the topic, promote a culture of speaking and listening about experiences of violence in sport and thus contribute to making sport safer.
The events take place on Wednesdays from 4 p.m. in Lecture Hall 3 (Lecture Hall Center I, Diagonale 5) on the Holländischer Platz campus of the University of Kassel. The topics and guests of the five events are
